The 2015 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix: A Must-Attend Event

Yas-MarinaIf you thought the 2014 Formula One grand finale at Abu Dhabi was interesting, then you have much to look forward to in the 2015 race at Yas Marina. Last year, all the tension that gripped the entire sporting world was sweetened by the decision to award double points to the winner.

While this will not happen this year, there is still much drama to look forward to. Indeed, the tension is already palpable going into the 8th race in Austria with the championship title having been blown wide open by Rosberg’s wins at the Spanish GP and Monaco. So, what makes 27th to 29th November Abu Dhabi GP an irresistible weekend? Take a look.

Lewis Hamilton Vs. Rosberg Drama

Last year, the F1 calendar was made fantastic by Lewis and Rosberg’s drama on track and off . Remember the drama at the Monaco and Belgian GP? Well, it was all decided on the final race day, and this year nothing much has changed.  Pundits are predicting a gripping end of the season and all of it will happen at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at Yas Marina.

Sebastian Vettel Reawakening

When Vettel decided to join Ferrari last September, everybody thought he had lost his marbles. Four races into the calendar, everybody is beginning to notice the 4-time champion is in exceptional shape. The team that Alonso left in a huff is actually pushing Mercedes W06 to the limit. The title is within the grasp of any top three drivers, and Vettel might just surprise every fan by taking the Abu Dhabi Formula 1 title.

The Fantastic Yas Marina Circuit

Hermann Tilke is a genius when it comes to designing race tracks. However, with this circuit, even drivers concur the German outdid himself. The amazing 21 corners make this circuit a challenge for drivers, but a delight to spectators. The track runs through sand dunes off the Abu Dhabi Coast. The long straights and tight corners running through the spectacular Yas Viceroy make the track just amazing to visit.

End of Season Drama

Last year, the action on the sidelines was as exciting as that on the track. Marussia never managed to race as the team was going under. Marcus Ericsson elected to terminate his contract with Caterham a week to Abu Dhabi GP, forcing the team to hire Wills Stevens.  Jenson Button was headed out of F1 at the time with no car seat in sight though the situation changed with McLaren’s change of heart.

2015’s final race will also come with its own drama, especially with everyone waiting for Hamilton’s decision on his Mercedes contract. Simply put, you have to be there to watch history unfold.
